2025 Swinging Fore Scholarships

This year’s Swinging Fore Scholarships golf tournament was a sell-out success! All foursomes were filled, sponsorships nearly sold out, and thanks to the incredible support of our members and partners, we raised just over $30,000 for the Sacramento Hotel Association Scholarship Program—$5,000 more than last year! Your generosity is helping us support the next generation of hospitality professionals. Thank you to everyone who played, sponsored, and contributed and we can’t wait to see everyone again next year!

Become a Sponsor Today

You are invited to join us as a sponsor at Swinging Fore Scholarships, our annual golf tournament benefiting the Sacramento Hotel Association’s scholarship program.  Each year we distribute thousands of dollars in scholarships to students studying hospitality at colleges in and around the greater Sacramento area. These students are the future of our industry and it’s because of events like this we can support them.

Why Should you Become a Sponsor?
With sponsorship opportunities ranging from $2500 to $200, there is something for everyone who wants to support the SHA scholarship fund in a unique way.  Workforce development is one of the biggest challenges facing all sectors of the hospitality industry.  Financially supporting those seeking careers in our industry makes a positive impact for us all.

What’s in it for you?
Tournament sponsors gain visibility for their business and an opportunity to meet and build relationships with colleagues, clients, and vendors from the hospitality community.

Raffle Prize Donation
The Swinging Fore Scholarships raffle is another way to help generate funds toward the SHA Scholarship Program.  We are accepting all forms of prizes including gift certificates for hotel stays and meals, gift baskets, local event tickets and more. Please donate to support our raffle.

Now What?
Make your involvement in Swinging Fore Scholarships impactful!  Sign up now to be in our elite group of event sponsors and know that your commitment will support students with aspirations to create a career in hospitality. Use the links provided or contact Sharlene Garcia at [email protected]

Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center – Donate New, Unwrapped Toys
We encourage all attendees to bring a new unwrapped toy (no toy guns/weapons) to the Holiday Reception. The Association will donate the collected toys to Operation Cratchit, a project of the Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center. Operation Cratchit serves more than 775 households in North Sacramento (about 3,400 individuals – 1,600 of them children receiving a new toy/gift).

To qualify for a Holiday Basket, families register at the Center. Baskets include a box of nonperishable foods, a grocery store voucher to purchase fresh holiday food items and a new toy/gift for each child in the household aged 15 and younger. A parent or guardian from each household personally selects a gift for each of their children in the Center’s gift room.

SHA November Membership Luncheon

Join us for our November membership luncheon—featuring guest speaker President & CEO of Visit California, Caroline Beteta. This is a perfect opportunity to network, learn something new and enjoy a delicious meal with your hospitality community.

What to Expect:

  • Guest Speaker – Caroline Beteta serves as president & CEO of the industry-led Visit California, a nonprofit organization created to market California as a premier travel destination to increase the state’s share of tourism-related revenues. She will share some of the exciting work being done to increase travel and tourism to our entire state.
  • Networking – Enjoy connecting with old friends and making new ones while exchanging shared experiences and ideas with those in the hospitality community.
  • Hosted Bar & Seated Lunch – Partake in innovative, locally sourced cuisine prepared by the SAFE Credit Union’s in-house culinary professionals, Sodexo Live!

Community Service Opportunity

We are also excited to bring you a special community service opportunity immediately following our luncheon, from 1-3 pm. In partnership with the Sheraton Grand and The Magic Yarn Project we invite you to help us make a little magic for children battling cancer. Magic Yarn is sending staff to guide the activity and the team at the Sheraton is providing all the materials. All we need is you, to stay and volunteer your time, no skills required! Plan to stay, mark your calendar and we will send an email as the event gets closer to get your RSVP for this portion of our day.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to stay connected and educated with SHA all while bringing a little joy to children fighting a battle they shouldn’t be faced with.

Be sure to register by Wednesday, November 12th.
