The association works diligently to inform and educate the hospitality community about industry issues and community developments SHA offers members quality educational experiences and networking opportunities for all employee segments of the industry.

SHA hosts six luncheon meetings a year with an educational component at each luncheon.  Speakers address hospitality industry and community development issues. These events also include a reception that allows members to meet, mingle and learn from each other. SHA also sponsors an annual holiday reception to collect new toys for families and children in need in our community. 

Each spring, SHA hosts the Swinging Fore Scholarships golf tournament, a popular event that brings together hospitality industry professionals and community supporters. The tournament aims to raise funds to support local students pursuing education in hospitality and related fields. Participants enjoy a day of networking, friendly competition, great food and drink, and a scenic golf course, all while contributing to an important cause. The event not only promotes camaraderie among industry leaders but also helps empower the next generation of hospitality professionals through scholarship programs.

SHA conducts targeted advocacy and legislative monitoring to effectively represent industry interests within local and state governments. Working in partnership with the California Hotel & Lodging Association, SHA keeps members informed about proposed laws and regulations, provides compliance guidance, and ensures Sacramento hoteliers have a voice in policy decisions that impact their operations.

Through our partnership with the California Hotel & Lodging Association, SHA provides members with comprehensive annual briefings on new state laws, industry regulations, and emerging legislative trends to help ensure your hotel remains compliant and competitive.

The hospitality industry is very competitive and reputable lodging properties play a key role in the desirability of a destination. 

SHA is committed to the growth and prosperity of the entire area’s hotel/travel industry. SHA supports the marketing efforts of  Visit Sacramento, the California Travel Association and Visit California. Through strong support of these entities, SHA members will continue to prosper and bring greater benefit to the community.

SHA continues to be the leading proponent of the hotel industry-sponsored Sacramento Tourism Marketing District (STMD). The marketing dollars collected from this special district are vital to the marketing of our destination. The association leadership is responsible for appointing lodging industry representatives to the STMD Tourism District Committee, which oversees the district’s budget and marketing program.

The Sacramento Hotel Association Scholarship Program is dedicated to supporting local college students pursuing higher education in hospitality, tourism, and related fields. By providing financial assistance, the program aims to encourage the next generation of industry professionals. Through scholarships, the association helps students reduce the financial barriers to their education, fostering talent and leadership within the Sacramento hospitality community. The program reflects the association’s commitment to community development and the future of the local hospitality industry.

Lodging property managers and their teams work very hard to provide high-quality customer service to their guests 365 days a year. Suppliers and vendors are key partners in providing comfortable and memorable experiences for guests in our community. Each year at the Annual Hospitality Gala, industry and community leaders and employees honor local hospitality employees and suppliers. The evening is a memorable way of recognizing exceptional hotel employees and a key supplier.

SHA is proud to contribute to the vitality of the Sacramento region through volunteerism, charitable giving, and partnerships that make a real difference in our community. SHA supports local causes, invests in the future of our community through the scholarship program and engages through events.  We’re committed to being good neighbors and strong partners, by fostering connections between our members and community organizations.
